Canoeing in the Ardeche
For many, a holiday in the Ardeche equates to time spent on the water in a canoe. Certainly a canoe trip for anyone with any level of experience or expertise is a must if you fancy a unique view of this majestic region. Paddle through dramatic gorges and savour fantastic surroundings along the way. There are rapids on some stretches which only add to the fun in an organised group. Many campsites on the water’s edge have their own canoes for hire, ideal for easy some going paddling.
Canoeing on the other rivers in the Ardeche
The Ardeche region offers excellent canoeing on rivers other than the Ardeche itself. The Doux, the Eyrieux and the Chassezac are gently flowing rivers for a relaxed paddle through stunning scenery. The Chassezac flows through several gorges and is punctuated by rapids while the Eyrieux is perhaps the more exciting for experienced canoeists. Ask at your campsite reception for tips and advice on which river is best and for local recommendations.
