Hiking in the Ardeche
With its wild and rugged landscape of dramatic gorges, volcanic peaks of Mont Gerbier de Jonc and lush green valleys, the Ardeche is a fabulous region for hiking amid stunning natural scenery. There are no less than 6,000 km of designated hiking trails, of which some 1,250 km are GR, France’s famous long distance paths that crisscross the country. Each is way marked with clear signage and there are challenging routes for serious walkers and stretches ideal for easy going family outings.
