Campsites on the banks of the Ardeche river
Of the region’s many rivers the best known is the Ardeche which flows on a twisting course from Vallon Point d’Arc through dramatic gorges and past rugged wild cliffs and canyons. Along the way are campsites with access to the river beaches, ideal for swimming, paddling, fishing and canoeing. It’s a wonderful setting, with stunning views all around and a total immersion in nature.
Camping on the river bank
Besides the Ardeche river, the rivers Eyrieux and the Chassezac flow through the region, linking ancient stone villages that line the banks, as well as a range of campsites. Most offer direct access to the river and the local beaches are wonderful for swimming and paddling, maybe splashing in the small waterfalls or fishing. Best of all, book a river bank pitch so you have instant access to the water whenever you fancy.
